Biografía:

  • David Vinicio Carrera Villacrés is an Ecuadorian Civil Engineer who graduated from the Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas ESPE specializing in Environmental and Hydrosanitary Engineering with 20 years of professional experience.
  • The Organization of American States (OAS) awarded him a scholarship to study for a Master of Science in the Hydroscience Program in Mexico, specializing in water quality from irrigation.
  • The Secretary of Foreign Relations of Mexico awarded him another scholarship to study Ph.D. in Sciences in the Hydroscience Program, specializing in the quality of agricultural soils and the metamorphosis of natural waters.
  • Until 2023, he has published 33 articles indexed to Scopus, two to Science Direct, and 58 articles indexed to Latindex and National and International Congresses.
  • In 2017 and 2022, he published the book Fuentes Termales del Ecuador and Ciencia del Suelo, caracterización y conservación en el Ecuador respectively.
  • In 2014 and 2015, he received an honorable mention in the contest for sustainable development organized by the company Odebrecht for its project fog collectors systems in the rural communities of Galte in Chimborazo and the creation of a technosol to mitigate eutrophication in the purpose dam Multiple Chone. In 2017 for his Urku Yaku project, a three-dimensional fog collector system, he was awarded as the 10 most innovative social initiatives of 2016 among more than 350 Projects in Latin America and Spain, this announcement was organized by the Development Bank of America Latin.
  • In 2017, the Top 500 Ranking of the Latin American Green Awards was awarded the project «Design and Implementation of Rainwater Collection Systems and Atmospheric Condensation type Warka Water».
  • In 2019, he was part of the winning team in the Swiss-funded Leading House for the Latin American Region competition to develop the Fog 2 project.
  • In 2020 he was part of the winning team of the fourth call for the German Cooperation, the GIZ, for his idea of the commercialization of bamboo, monitoring towers and atmospheric condensers.
  • He carried out research stays at the University of Bern in Switzerland and the Federal University of Ceará in Brazil.
